Event Details:

Join Patrick Callaghan on a walk to consider the changes that have happened in Leichhardt with the passage of years. Hear about industry, transport, housing, movie theatres, pubs, Leichhardt stadium, schools, the working man’s institute, cafes and coffee.

The walk will commence at the Rotunda in Pioneer Park in Norton Street on Wednesday 11 October 2017, is expected to take about two hours and will conclude at 12noon.

Bring a bottle of water, hat and sunscreen.

Balmain’s Colonial and Industrial Heritage – Walking Tour 1

Event Details:

Balmain was an important part of the working Sydney harbour, with hundreds of men being employed in the local industries of manufacturing, ship building and repair, and oil storage. Unionism and labour movement politics had an impact on Balmain, including the protection of its unique character. Balmain is now a picturesque area, with streetscapes retaining their 19th century heritage. The walk will explore Balmain’s colonial and industrial heritage, stopping at historic houses, Nicholson Street Public School, the Watch House and pubs.

The walk will commence at Balmain East Wharf and conclude at the Unity Hall Hotel, 292 Darling Street.

Bring a bottle of water, hat and sunscreen.
