From a celebration of Sydney’s Italian fruitshops at Leichhardt Library to the stories of those who left their mark on local landscapes at Callan Park and on Balmain’s waterfront there is plenty going on this September. I just wanted to say that I was born in Annandale in 1943 and lived at 17 Wetherill Street Leichhardt until 1964 and at 55 Wetherill Street in 1965 then moving to Sutherland in 1966. I have many memories of Leichhardt and sometimes feel very upset that everything seems to be about the Italian Leichhardt. Not that I don’t appreciate the Italian influence but there was a whole generation of Australians in Leichhardt before that and they seemed to have been long forgotten. I would like the young people living there now to know about that history. Please respond. Thank you. D.Ingram
